The Coach’s Corner Newsletter #60
In this second week of a break as we establish life in north Texas – I was reminded that with every plan I make something is certain to change.
Working with executives we get to explore what it means to be willing to pivot, to shift a long-held perspective and acknowledge that to thrive it’s imperative to live with uncertainty.
Relocation has a funny way of embodying all of those elements on an hourly basis.
It took the wisdom of our four year old grandson to bring me back to my senses.
Nana, look! If I throw Racoonee high enough – I can catch him. But I have to let go.
Thoughts on letting go
- “We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned so as to accept the life that is waiting for us.” Joseph Campbell
- “May the space between where I am and where I want to be inspire me.” – Tracee Ellis Ross
- “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” – Alexander Graham Bell
My takeaway
The image of “Racoonee” suspended in the air blows me away. That liminal space between where “Racoonee” had been and where he is going is precisely what I am experiencing.
I know the gap between the end of one thing and the beginning of another is coming soon – and this threshold is filled with new opportunities.
Honor the space between no longer and not yet.
