I hope your summer is one that is filled with work, times of rest, connection with family and friends and reflection.
After losing my voice for the first half of this week, I’ve been more reflective of the work I’m doing.
When I launched the Coach’s Corner two years ago, my goal was to share how the hard work that my clients are processing might offer ideas on how to move ahead, slow down, change things up or totally disregard.
So today I want to know – what’s working and what isn’t working?
This is something many of you do in your work when you set up and deliver mid-year reviews for your team. But what do you do for yourself?

The Coach’s Corner Newsletter #108
THIS WEEK’S INSIGHT
How to write your own mid-year review
Leaning into the strategies so many of you use with your team, I’ve decided to implement a number of ideas as I evaluate the feedback I’ve received for this newsletter.
This review process is giving me a fresh take on the way I write and work. Amanda Chua, writing in Omni, offers some great elements to include in your own mid-year review:
- Consider the key achievements you’ve accomplished.
- Look at how to quantify your impact.
- Highlight the contributions you offer.
- Identify your core strengths and how they relate to your work.
- Revisit your specific development goals.
THIS WEEK’S TOOL
Here’s what you’ll gain for yourself
By examining each of these areas, I rediscovered how much I enjoy writing on a weekly basis. Writing for two years consistently has helped me get to this place.
I understand how there are better ways to quantify my impact and I’m putting a plan into effect to make changes on that front.
Highlighting my contributions may not come as naturally as I’d like – AND I know there is no one who can do that work except for me.
My core values are absolutely critical to what I do.
And every few weeks I want to make a stronger commitment to making sure the goals I establish with this newsletter are being met.
My takeaway
Writing is an integral part of my life. This newsletter is mostly about engaging with people and those with whom I work and sharing their insights – which shape my thinking and hopefully offer you some fresh ideas.
How does this land with you?
If you’re willing, here’s a prompt that would be very helpful for me as I process what’s next:
- What would you like to read more about?
- What would you like to read less about?
- What kinds of conversations are most meaningful?
Never underestimate the power you have to take your life in a new direction.
